I got these lists off the internet but really people. If there are all of these problems from being obese get a grip on things if you have control over them. Go see a doctor and talk about this issue, they will help you or point you in the right direction to a nutrition specialist. They can put together a whole eating plan, weight watchers is a great program. I agree with this program because it is about a lifestyle change, not some change that’s promised to happen over night. This is a MAINTAINABLE diet that teaches you to eat right for the rest of your life. It helps you make wise food choices and teaches you what portion sizes are right for you in order to maintain the weight that you’re at.  Weight watchers is a great program and isn’t too expensive. I’m sure that money that once was spent on food could be spent on getting a healthier body through weight watchers.

Exercise

1 12 2010

What is the correct amount of exercise a person should be doing?

Twenty minutes to maintain a  weight and over forty a day to loose the weight.  A person needs to cut out only one hundred calories from their diet a day and they will loose three pounds in a month! If a girl is above 30 bmi they are considered obese and should try to loose weight. If a girl is under 22 bmi they should not consider loosing weight because it is not healthy for them.  Girls in gymnastics growing up often don’t have regular menstrual cycles because they don’t get enough calories for the amount of energy they are pushing out. Obviously that isn’t healthy for girls.  Each body is different and should be taken care of to the extent it requires. If a tall boy is always hungry and is underweight it wouldn’t be a bad idea for him to eat a little more.  This is by no means saying that he can just go out and eat a dozen doughnuts but this is saying he can look for more nutritious foods.

People need to consider the health of their body. If their BMI is high they are at risk of all types of cardiovascular diseases, strokes, liver failure, diabetes, blindness and much more. Obesity is the leading cause of chronic diseases in the US.

Fast food

QUIT THE HABBIT

Eating out is not doing yourself any favors! If there’s one thing I had to learn growing up was how to make wise choices eating out. We ate out every meal, even breakfast growing up except on some mornings before school.  I played tennis five hours a day and sometimes went to the gym after playing really hard. I had to do this to keep my weight under control EVEN with making the best choices when we ate out. I rarely ever ate anything fried  when we went out, I banned KFC and other restaurants like this from my family because I didn’t feel like they were healthy. It’s so important to eat right.  When your young you learn eating habits and people tend to keep to their habits unless they have a good reason to change them. Like smokers, majority of them don’t really make their BEST effort to stop until they learn they have lung cancer and THEN it is too late sometimes.  If people could see the damage that they are doing to their bodies and their livers they would change their lifestyles.  On the movie “super size me” the doctors across the nation recommended people to eat fast food once to never in a MONTH. Fast food is not good for people and this is one change that I’ve made in our lives. I have cut out most fast food and I’ve done it slowly so that it wouldn’t be a craving all the time.  I have let us both understand that we don’t want fast food all the time because we know how bad things are for you even when they “look healthy”.  Did you know that the McDonalds salad has a lot of sugar in it?  Unless you are hypoglycemic, you should not be consuming sugar in salads if you can help it.

HCG diet

1 12 2010

If you eat only 500 calories a day…YOU WILL LOOSE WEIGHT, DUH.

If you get too much :

Human chorionic gonadotropin

you could get TUMORS, CANCERS, BECOME STERIL, GET OVARIAN CISTS, HEADACHES, MOOD SWINGS, DEPRESSION, BLOOD CLOTS, CONFUSION, DIZZINESS, OVARIAN HYPER STIMULATION SYNDROME, PELVIC PAIN, SWELLING OF THE HANDS AND LEGS, STOMACH PAIN, WEIGHT GAIN, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, DIARRHEA, VOMITING, NAUSEA, AND URINATING LESS THAN NORMAL!!!!!

Why do people insist on doing something drastic to their bodies when majority of them aren’t obese to begin with? Pride. They care about the way they look in those jeans but don’t care much about their health.  Research should be taken in any kind of case like this especially when it involves INJECTING yourself with a hormone! You only get one body, don’t destroy it!

If weight loss is needed go to a doctor and find out a better way to pursue this goal. There are much healthier ways:

1. Portion control – don’t overeat, you will never burn it all of AND reach your goal of loosing weight

2. Exercise – Find 40 minutes a day to loose weight, try lifting weights (even girls), it burns 3/4 more calories than just doing a cardio workout.

3. Food choices – choose choices with more vitamins and minerals

4. Sleep – rest is critical for the body to process weight loss and let go of fat stores

This drug has been scientifically tested and these were the results:

hCG Diet Reviewed by FullBar’s Dr. Michael Snyder

There is no scientific evidence supporting HCG injections as a weight loss strategy. In addition, these injections have not been approved by the FDA for use in weight loss. In fact, since 1975 the FDA has required all marketing and advertising of HCG to state the following: “HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or ‘normal’ distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”

“HCG is a hormone extracted from urine of pregnant women. It is approved by FDA for treatment of certain problems of the male reproductive system and in stimulating ovulation in women who have had difficulty becoming pregnant. No evidence has been presented, however, to substantiate claims for HCG as a weight-loss aid.” via the FDA

fad diets

1 12 2010

People expect to loose weight fast when it takes A LONG TIME TO PUT IT ON.  People need to give up on the fad diets. If you can’t do a diet FOREVER then don’t try it now because it will be just depressing in 5 months when you’ve gained all the weight back and a little more.  People think if they just stop eating a certain food, for example: bread, they will loose lots of weight and voila! This is not how it works…OF COURSE you will loose weight when you take a food out of your diet and deprive your body.  BUT what do these people think is going to happen when they start eating bread again? Seriously, this needs to be given some thought if the reader doesn’t understand this point.  There was a girl in my nutrition class at BYU who was doing the “seven’s diet”.  My nutrition teacher asked her what diet that was and she said, “oh, it’s just where you only eat seven of one thing during the day.  You are limited to seven bananas and nothing else. The next day you are limited to seven pancakes. etc.”  This was the most ridiculous diet I have EVER heard come out of someone’s mouth.  Seriously. Seriously. Seriously.  People be human! Eat a little bit of everything like the scriptures say and you’ll be healthy, don’t overeat or eat too much of one thing. If you eat in moderation you will be healthy and you will be able to maintain a healthy weight your entire life.  Eating is a lifestyle and if yours is out of whack you should consider some of this advice ASAP!

Weight loss for dummies

1. Eat less calories than burning

2. Exercise longer than 40 minutes a day to see a noticeable difference in weight

There are no good carbs or bad carbs according to a nutrition teacher and text book at Brigham Young University. The only difference are the vitamins and minerals offered by different types of carbs.  There is no logical reason why a person would pick white bread over wheat bread because there are obviously more vitamins and minerals offered in the wheat bread.  The white bread is enriched, of course, but the wheat bread is whole and offers a lot more nutrients.  I have started putting “better” carbs in the house because I want to get as many nutrients as possible. All food is processed the same, if you get enough meat everyday you should only be getting about 6oz.  At steakhouses and restaurants most of the “normal” servings are 8oz or above.  The serving size has gotten a lot bigger than fifty years ago.  The hamburger was half the size and the drink is almost a quarter of the size. The french fries were smaller than the “smallest” fry at McDonlads and the shakes are almost triple.  America isn’t getting obese simply from not being active, they are overeating and not realizing it.  America needs to focus on the right portion sizes and give that a little try.  The only things that have changed are activity levels and portion sizes and OBESITY.

Trainers week-to-week

2 11 2010

My husband has really showed progress with the training and he has definitely improved with his cardio.  I think the program that the trainer has him on with lifting and doing cardio has dramatically improved his energy levels also.  He is more energetic when he wakes up, comes home for lunch and when he’s done with work.  Normally he is beat after work and is so glad to be home where he can relax.  Lately he has been so motivated with everything that he’s been doing.  People at his work have even commented that they’ve noticed a change in his behavior, they asked him what is going on.  I believe it is related to his exercise and his eating habits.  Since he is trying to get on a better level of fitness he has really been watching what he has been eating. He has been eating what the American Pyramid says to eat but he has been eating really nutrient rich foods over nutrient poor foods.

AFTER 3 MONTHS: He has not lost weight because he hasn’t been focusing on his food portion sizes and the effort put into exercising. He has actually gained 20 pounds in the last little bit.  We are working on portion sizes and exercise times and this has seemed to help. He has more energy and has been eating very nutritious filling foods instead of meal “fillers”.  He has been going to the gym twice a day, lifting in the morning before work and swimming at night to cool down and let his muscles relax. I think that this will really be beneficial but I would like to touch on the importance of exercise going hand-in-hand with eating in moderation of variety.
